DUANE A FOGO SCHOLARSHIP FUND

In recognition of my Brother-In-Law Duane A. Fogo, I am offering a $400 annual scholarship for the betterment of newer officials looking to improve themselves by attending Camps, Workshops, Meetings, Clinics, or almost anything that makes them a better official. This is not a bonus check, and IT will require the following:

1. Official must be within the first 6 years of their officiating career.
2. Official must apply to the GCBOA Board of Directors and be selected.
3. Official must supply validated receipts for all expenses. Scholarship monies will be dispensed prior to expenses incurred so that official may use for required registration fees, etc.
4. Official must be in good standing with the GCBOA.
5. Official must give back to the association as a whole. This can be done by giving a presentation of what was learned, mentoring another official, providing course materials for other officials, etc.

This scholarship is a way for me to memorialize my late brother-in-law and is intended to assist those officials who want to make themselves better at a vocation they truly love to do. For me, it was never about the money. It was always about staying involved in something that I really loved to do.

Duane was that kind of guy too. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone, and he was always asking me how my officiating career was going, did I throw anyone out, did I get to meet anyone famous. He was always a joy to be around and he made others feel welcomed. So use this scholarship as a way to improve yourself as well. Make yourself a better official and better person - I know Duane would like that.
